Individual Counseling :
The main focus of my practice is working with individuals over the age of 12. I have significant experience counseling adolescents and teach a master’s level “counseling adolescents” course in my role as an adjunct instructor. I enjoy the opportunity to apply lessons learned in the academic world to my daily practice as a counselor. I have been trained in EMDR, TF-CBT, and Family systems. I am trained as a Marriage, Family and Child counselor with specific course work related to systems theory and family dynamics. From this training comes my belief that the family context is an important factor in healing and wellness. I involve family members in counseling whenever possible and seek to use playful, experiential exercises to create moments of connection, healing and growth.
I am committed to strengthening marriages by using a variety of relationship assessments and creative interventions that foster deeper connection and intimacy. Marriage work focuses on communication, trust and understanding how each partners family of origin impacts the current relationship. Go here to learn more about my approach to marriage counseling
I am trained in several group counseling protocols that I have used with adolescents and children. I have provided “process groups” as well as psycho-educational groups and have developed my own 6 week parenting group.
